The activities we’ve been planning for weeks have been canceled for now. Hopefully, we will have a few more windy days when this is all over so we can have a kite flying play date! Until then, we want to find other ways to be kind.
We distributed these flyers on our street and the two streets closest to our home. We may have only touched 30 homes but it is a start and we hope to encourage others to do the same. If we all just check in on a few people, no one will have to go through this alone.
It was sad to see our streets so empty and to talk to people who didn’t want the flyer for fear of the virus. We understand and we were careful (washing our hands twice during our outing and using hand sanitizer between each home) but we were concerned about ourselves, too.
Somehow, there has to be a balance. We don’t know exactly what the balance looks like but we know we don’t want to hear of a neighbor in distress within walking distance of our home after an offer of help is too late.
